Swire-CCTF Community Centre wins Sustainability Achievement of the Year award at RICS China Awards 2020

The RICS China Awards 2020 is a prestigious international award in the real estate and construction sector to celebrate the most inspiring innovations and achievements in China and recognise the contribution and positive impact that built environment professionals have made to the industry and the society. Winners of 13 categories including consultancy services, facility management and sustainable development were announced at the ceremony held in Shanghai on Jul 30, 2020.

Supported by Swire Properties and designed by the Oval Partnership on a pro-bono basis, the Swire-CCTF Community Centre makes use of cutting edge technology in structural laminated bamboo and has very low embodied energy and carbon emission. It won an Excellence Award in the Sustainability Achievement of the Year category.

Located in Shuanghong Village, Pengzhou City, the community centre first emerged during the village’s reconstruction following the Ya’an earthquake. The project is directed at helping the children, women and elderly who were left behind, while providing wider social welfare benefits to the community it serves. The vision for this community centre has its sights set beyond the commendable objectives to serve and the immediate community. The hope is to establish a model for rural village services in addition to creating a public welfare platform for all sectors of society to participate jointly in the promotion of community building and sustainable development of the countryside.

Swire-CCTF is our second eco-community centre in rural China following the completion of the KPMG-CCTF centre in 2009. It won the Integration category of the BritCham and AmCham China CSR awards in 2017. Read more about the project here.
