Tan Shui New Town

This new town development was designed to house 300,000 people on a 2,700 hectare site to the north of Taipei. The project explored the opportunities to maintain existing natural features (natural vegetation and streams), and incorporate them into the urban environment. The built form eschews the conventional presumption in favour of high rise dwellings, focusing instead on mid-rise buildings maintaining high density while encouraging a social dialogue and a sense of community.
