Acer Aspire Park

Master plan and architectural design for a new town development on a greenfield site outside Taipei. The client, Acer Computer, the fifth largest computer company in the world, intended the new town to be inhabited by high-tech engineers to become a truly intelligent town. Named by the Financial Times UK as the silicon valley of Taiwan, the Aspire Park New Town will eventually house 36,000 people and covers 200 hectares, comprising 4 schools, 3 shopping centres and a science-park. It was designed to be a new way of life for Asia, combining intelligent adaptable buildings in a themed garden city of ten urban villages, a nature conservation area, an Institute of Experience Sharing and a Research and Development Centre. Participatory community decision-making was embraced from inception. Our work for Phase 1 architecture comprises 76 low-rise residential units of detached or semi-detached houses of varying sizes.
